The Hoya Green Plant, also known as the Hoya carnosa, is a popular and low-maintenance houseplant prized for its thick, waxy leaves and its ability to tolerate a range of indoor environments available at Upjau.in –the best online plant nursery in India. Often referred to as the “wax plant,” this Southeast Asian native is an excellent choice for both beginners and seasoned plant enthusiasts alike.

How to Care for the Hoya Green Plant

Soil: A well-draining potting mix is essential. A cactus or succulent mix works well, as it prevents water from lingering around the roots, which can cause rot. You can also add perlite or orchid bark to improve drainage.

Watering: The Hoya Green Plant prefers to dry out completely between waterings. Overwatering can lead to root rot, so make sure the soil is dry before adding more water. During winter, reduce watering as the plant’s growth slows.

Sunlight: This plant thrives in bright, indirect light. While it can tolerate some direct sunlight, it’s best to avoid prolonged exposure, as this can scorch its leaves. Low light will also work, but it may slow the plant’s growth and reduce blooming.

Temperature: The Hoya Green Plant prefers warm, stable temperatures between 60-80°F (15-27°C). Avoid placing it in areas with drafts, cold air, or temperature fluctuations. It’s sensitive to cold temperatures and should be kept away from windows that may drop below 50°F (10°C).

Humidity: This plant enjoys moderate humidity but is relatively tolerant of drier conditions. If you live in a dry climate, misting occasionally or placing the plant on a humidity tray will help. Grouping it with other plants can also create a more humid environment.

Fertilizer: Feed the plant monthly during the growing season (spring and summer) with a balanced, diluted liquid fertilizer. Avoid over-fertilizing, as this can lead to excess growth without flowers. Hoya plants are light feeders and don’t require much nutrition.
