You know those misty winter mornings when your breath was like clouds, misty hills seemed magical, and the sea wind seemed to give you a playful nip. The majority of the gardens hardly grow at this period of the year. But these 10 outdoor plants can resist 5-10°C icy winters & are bursting with vivid flowers, intense fragrances, & nonstop energy.

  • Dahlia

The dahlias are the melodramas of their season, and bloom at least 10 inches with reds, yellows, and white shades during November to February. They are Mexican-born and do well in the cold. It should be planted in October & should receive full sun with a well-drained soil. It should be heavily mulched around the roots. They are nipped 35 ft high & are planted in windy places.

  • Petunia

  2. Double Petal Petunia Flowering Sapling/Plant: A vibrant double petunia produces dense blossoms that look like roses, standing out due to stacked petals. Because it handles slight errors in care, this plant suits newcomers; it also fits well on compact balconies.
  3. Petunia Flowering Plant Sapling: Vibrant single blooms, like petunia saplings, offer strong color while growing fast. Suspend above eye level; they shine brightly even during late-year mist.
  • Pansy  

Pansies sapling appeal to a cheery countenance in all shades. They grow between October and March in invaluable white underconcrete or in plains, in blue-violet Johnny Jump-Ups to gold mixes. In loose soil, one should plant them with a spacing of 6 inches. Lightly fertilise joy in pure winter.

  • Begonia

  • Salvia  

The spikes of salvia are erect in either scarlet or purple, which attract butterflies even in December. Mexican species such as Salvia splendens are sun-loving and require sandy soil, pruned to promote reblooms. Fragrant and insect-welcoming.

  • Cineraria  

Cineraria leaves, which are silvery in appearance & radiate a soft glow, are dusty, mentioning the miller, and bear blue-purple daisies that can thrive in cold, low-hazard soil. Apply it as an edgy border- it is a natural deterrent of slugs and provides a striking contrast with the striking neighbours.

  • Poinsettia  

Poinsettias are jabbing with bountiful ruby. They are able to live outside in South India, or in walled-in patios northwards. Allow them to stay damp & draught-tolerant flowering plant, to ensure that the Diwali magic is preserved till the month of January.

  • Stock  

Stock (Matthiola) creates fat spikes with a clove-cinnamon scent, & they come in pink, lavender, or white. The cool-night lovers are at their best during winter; continuous sowing will ensure year-long perfume.

  • Impation

There are impatiens in shade areas; they are pink, coral, and white. They are found to be growing well in humid winters and propagate easily on their own.
